Rare Antique Oak Extra Grade Wooton Patent Secretary Rockefeller Style Desk. 69 H x 38 W x 28 D. EXTRA GRADE WOOTON DESK ROCKEFELLER STYLE OAK (1875). Originally a special design for John D. Slightly smaller in scale, it has different gilt incised carvings than other Wooton desks.
This desk features an ingenious system of rotating writing board supports, ebonized details, solid bronze hardware, and a gold-tooled leather writing surface. Note The difference between the two styles of desks. Rockefellers is the lighter desk in Oak. The walnut desk was standard production for the Extra Grade model, albeit very rare today. Both styles of extra grades were produced in very limited quantities and are much more rare and collectible today. Took a special interest in the design of this desk. Queen Victoria, US Grant, Benjamin Harrison, Jay Gould, bank presidents, senators, etc. Wells Fargo used a much cheaper version in their railroad offices. YOU'RE NOT THE QUEEN.
